Desde el Club Halterofilia Rías Baixas, queremos felicitar a D. Jose Oscar Fernández Serántes, presidente de la Federación Gallega de Halterofilia, ya que el Cómite Olímpico Español (COE ) ha decido otorgarle la Insignia Olímpica.
Este reconocimiento llega gracias a la que Federación Española solicita este distinción debido a su destacada contribución y dedicación al desarrollo de la Halterofilia en España durante los 29 años en los que lleva al frente de la Federación Gallega de Halterofilia.
Durante estos 29 años la Federación bajo su mando a organizado incontables campeonatos autonómicos y nacionales, pero destacamos la organización los siguientes eventos internacionales:
- 1998, Campeonato de Europa Sub 16 en el año 1998
- 1999, Campeonato de Europa Absoluto en el año 1999
- 2001, Campeonato de la Unión Europea en el año 2001
- 2003, Campeonato de la Unión Europea en el año 2003
- 2007, Campeonato de la Unión Europea en el año 2007
- 2016, Copa Mediterránea en el año 2016
Indicamos que durante este año 2018 se disputará en A Coruña los días 24-28 de Octubre el Campeonato de Europa Junior y Sub-23.
Este reconomiento a Óscar Fernández da continuidad al reconocimiento por parte del COE al trabajo que se está realizando en la halterofilia española por parte de las federaciones y equipo técnico de las mistas, ya que en 2106 Mariano Lucas Gaitán y Matías Fernandez en 2015 fueron quienes recibieron también esta distinción.
